Family members are desperately searching for Juan Merlos, a Houston-area veteran who has been missing for over a week. Juan, 36, lives in Cut and Shoot, north of Houston, and was last seen on Aug. 20. His family and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office have issued a plea to the public to help find him.
Juan made two calls to friends in Los Angeles on Aug. 21 but his phone has been dead since then. His sister, Jackie Henriquez Merlos, described him as a beloved member of their family, especially since they recently lost another sister in a tragic car accident during Hurricane Beryl.
Having served in the Marines for six years, Juan recently moved back to Cut and Shoot to be closer to his family. Dealing with PTSD, the loss of their sister has deeply impacted the family. Juan was last seen driving his blue 2009 Chevrolet Silverado with license plate RRB 5140, spotted in Segovia, Texas on Aug. 20, but it’s unclear if he was driving it. He was supposed to fly to Los Angeles to see a friend and missed his flight along with his weekly meeting with his mother.
Juan is described as 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has distinctive tattoos on his left forearm. Anyone with information is urged to contact the MCSO at 936-760-5800, referencing case #24A243812.
The family is pleading for Juan’s safe return, as they are grappling with the fear of losing another loved one. Let’s come together to bring Juan home.
