Tragedy struck the Richard family when 33-year-old Brittany Richard lost her life after being stabbed nine times while bravely defending her younger cousins from an attack. The heart-wrenching incident took place at the Time Out Sports Bar #5 in Texas City. Brittany’s mother, Shametria Richard, shared the devastating details with KHOU 11.

As per the Texas City Police Department, the fatal stabbing occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. Shametria arrived at the hospital too late to bid farewell to her daughter, who had valiantly tried to protect her cousins from harm.

The chain of events unfolded during a night of celebration for a cousin’s birthday, culminating in a senseless act of violence. Brittany was fatally injured while coming to the aid of her younger cousin, who was attacked by two women. Shockingly, Brittany’s estranged husband’s girlfriend, 35-year-old Shynice Felder, was arrested for the crime.

The Richard family expressed their grief over Brittany’s untimely death, which occurred on the very day she was supposed to sign divorce papers. They emphasized the unprovoked nature of the attack and the lack of previous altercations between the two women.

Remembered as a devoted mother and esteemed employee at the City of La Marque, Brittany’s tragic demise has left a void in the lives of her loved ones. A vigil is planned in her honor, followed by a funeral service to commemorate her life.

The family has established a GoFundMe page to aid with expenses and offer support to Brittany’s children. Their quest for justice and closure continues as they mourn the loss of a beloved daughter, cousin, and friend.

Join us in honoring the memory of Brittany Richard and standing in solidarity with her family during this challenging time.
