Welcome to the latest update on former Houston Texans Quarterback Deshaun Watson. A new civil lawsuit has been filed against him in Harris County, accusing him of sexual assault and demanding $1 million in damages.
The woman behind the lawsuit, known as Jane Doe in the court documents, alleges that the incident occurred four years ago when she invited Watson to her apartment. According to her, Watson undressed upon arrival and then demanded a massage.
This is not the first time Watson has faced legal troubles. Earlier in 2022, he settled 23 out of 24 lawsuits against him, where multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct and harassment during massage therapy sessions.
As a result of these allegations, Watson served an 11-game suspension in the NFL, paid a $5 million fine, and had to undergo independent counseling before being reinstated.
The new lawsuit has been filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, who has represented other women with similar allegations against Watson. The Cleveland Browns, Watson’s current team, have not yet responded to the lawsuit. The NFL has also declined to comment on the matter.
Given his troubled past, Watson could face further discipline from the league. Despite being a three-time Pro Bowler, his career has been overshadowed by these controversies since his trade to the Browns in 2022.
Last Sunday, Watson made his first appearance in 10 months, but his performance was lackluster. He completed 24 of 45 passes for 169 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown in a disappointing 33-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
With ongoing legal issues and a shaky start to the NFL season, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Deshaun Watson.
