The Rise of Madison Marlins Volleyball Team in the 2024 Season
The Madison Marlins volleyball team is gearing up for an exciting 2024 season, led by the dynamic underclassmen duo of Maci Odums and Coryn Fields. After a strong performance in the 2023 season, finishing third in 5A Region III District 19 with a 14-4 record, the Marlins are ready for another competitive playoff run.
Last season, the team made the playoffs but was eliminated by Foster High School. Now, with the young stars Odums and Fields, the team is aiming to reach new heights. Head volleyball coach Tiffany Lockhart praises Maci and Coryn for their skills and leadership on the court.
Maci Odums, a former competitive gymnast turned volleyball player, brings her agility and competitiveness to the court. Known for her versatility, Odums draws inspiration from elite setters like Ella Swindle and Madison Skinner. Her dedication to the game and athleticism make her a valuable asset to the team.
Maci is still exploring her college options but hopes to find a program that aligns with her passion for kinesiology and sports science. She is actively involved in club volleyball, honing her skills and leadership on and off the court.
On the other hand, Coryn Fields, a versatile player with a love for blocking and leadership, has big dreams for her volleyball career. Inspired by players like Ella Swindle and Reagan Rutherford, Fields aims to improve her offensive skills and find a collegiate program that supports her academic interests in Architectural Engineering.
Both Odums and Fields have been instrumental in the Marlins’ success this season, showcasing their skills and dedication to the sport. As the 2024 season unfolds, all eyes will be on these talented underclassmen to see if they can lead the team to victory in the playoffs.
For Maci and Coryn, volleyball is not just a game; it’s a way to push themselves, achieve their goals, and inspire others with their hard work and determination.
