Welcome to the latest update from Houston! Exciting news for all basketball fans as Toyota Center is set to receive a brand new roof. The Harris County Houston Sports Authority recently approved a proposal by the Houston Rockets to replace the existing roof, which has been in place since 2002-03.

The cost of this new roof will range between $7.5 to $8 million, with the team covering the expenses. The project is expected to take four to five months, starting in September and aiming for completion by March.

General Manager of Toyota Center, Doug Hall, reassured fans that the construction process will not disrupt the team’s operations. In fact, the new roof will come with a unique logo that is currently in development. The current roof features a prominent Toyota emblem and the words “Toyota Center”.

Excitingly, the new roof comes with a 20-year warranty and can withstand hurricane winds of up to 146 miles per hour. The Rockets carefully reviewed bids from six vendors to ensure the best quality for their iconic home arena.
