Tragedy Strikes Brazoria County: Third Family Member Dies in Home Collapse

It is with heavy hearts that we report a devastating incident that occurred in Brazoria County, Texas. On Sunday, a tragic accident unfolded, resulting in the collapse of a manufactured home. The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that three lives were lost in this heartbreaking event.

The latest victim, a 15-year-old boy who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, tragically passed away on Tuesday. This news comes after a 17-year-old and a 31-year-old were pronounced dead on the day of the collapse. Additionally, four other individuals were hospitalized as a result of the incident.

The incident took place on County Road 42, approximately five miles north of Angleton, in Brazoria County. The sheriff’s office received a distress call regarding a mobile home that collapsed while being leveled. Family members working on the home were trapped beneath the structure, prompting a swift response from multiple agencies.

Investigations suggest that a failure in the jack equipment may have led to the collapse. It was also noted that there was no leveling company present at the time of the incident, and it did not appear that anyone was inside the home during the leveling process.

Rescue efforts were soon underway, with five individuals successfully extricated from beneath the structure. Four were airlifted to Houston-area hospitals, while another was transported by ambulance to a nearby medical facility. In a harrowing rescue operation, responders had to utilize a chainsaw to access one of the trapped victims.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapse. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families during this difficult time.
