A recent break-in at Wakefield Crowbar has left the owners reeling after thieves managed to get away with thousands of dollars in a daring heist. The perpetrators used a crowbar to break into the bar, showing their expertise in the act.
Located in the Garden Oaks area, Wakefield Crowbar had already been dealing with the aftermath of previous natural disasters, including the derecho in May and Hurricane Beryl in July. The break-in came as yet another blow to the business owners.
Surveillance footage captured the thieves arriving in a silver Mercedes with a paper license plate around 5:30 a.m. They broke in through the side door after jumping the fence, displaying a level of finesse that suggested prior experience in such crimes.
The thieves went about their business with precision, heading straight for the office area where the safe was kept. Despite their attempts to evade the alarm system, their every move was recorded on camera, revealing their methodical approach.
Using a torch or grinder, the criminals managed to cut into the safe within minutes and make off with two safes containing $4,000. This significant loss comes at a challenging time for the bar, still recovering from the effects of the recent storms.
Co-owner Miguel Cruz expressed his determination to bounce back from this setback and urged anyone with information to contact the authorities. Houston police are actively investigating the case, and any leads would be helpful in apprehending the culprits.
