The-Dream Seeks Dismissal of Lawsuit Alleging Sexual Assault

The legal team representing The-Dream, a Grammy-winning songwriter and producer, is pushing for the dismissal of a lawsuit filed by singer Chanaaz Mangroe, accusing him of sexual assault and other abuse. The producer, whose real name is Terius Gesteelde-Diamant, has worked on major hits for artists like Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, and Rihanna, vehemently denying the allegations brought against him.

In a motion filed in a Los Angeles federal court, The-Dream’s lawyers argue that the lawsuit is a baseless attempt to tarnish his reputation and seek financial gain for the accuser. They claim that the suit lacks specific factual allegations and should be thrown out entirely.

Mangroe, who performed under the name Channii Monroe, alleges that Gesteelde-Diamant subjected her to a toxic and abusive relationship, filled with physical assaults and psychological manipulation. The lawsuit also includes a rape claim that The-Dream’s lawyers are working to dismiss on technical grounds.

Desirée F. Moore, the legal representation for Gesteelde-Diamant, argues that the lawsuit’s claims are unfounded and should not proceed. On the other hand, Meredith Firetog, representing Mangroe, maintains that they will oppose the motion to dismiss and continue with the case.

If the lawsuit is not dismissed, The-Dream’s legal team is seeking to strike certain parts of the complaint that they deem irrelevant and want his company, Contra Paris, LLC, to be removed from the case due to its primary operations in Atlanta and registration in Delaware.

It is important to note that The Associated Press does not typically disclose the names of individuals who claim to be victims of sexual abuse unless they choose to come forward publicly, as Mangroe has in this instance.

Overall, the case continues to unfold, with both sides presenting their arguments before the court as they seek a resolution.
