NEW YORK – After the success at the Olympics, U.S. gymnastics breakout star and medalist Stephen Nedoroscik, also known as “Pommel Horse Guy,” will be showcasing his moves on the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

The exciting news was revealed during Thursday’s episode of ABC’s “Good Morning America.” Nedoroscik is the first celebrity contestant announced for the new season, set to premiere on Sept. 17 on ABC and Disney+. He is also the first male gymnast to participate, as noted by “Good Morning America” co-host Robin Roberts.

“I want to bring some of that gymnastics flair, maybe a backflip or a handstand,” Nedoroscik shared during the morning show. “I’m looking forward to having fun with it.”

The 25-year-old gymnast clinched two bronze medals in Paris, contributing to the American men’s team securing its first Olympic medal in 16 years, in addition to finishing third in his individual event. Nedoroscik became an internet sensation thanks to memes circulating about his pre-competition rituals — no, he wasn’t sleeping — and his Superman-like transformation before hitting the floor (complete with removing his glasses, just like Clark Kent).

“The memes are hilarious and I’m enjoying every bit of them,” said the Penn State engineering graduate to The Associated Press in Paris.

“Dancing With the Stars” upcoming season will mark the show’s 33rd edition. The show is co-hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough, with judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough. The remaining celebrity cast members will be disclosed at a later date, as per ABC’s statement.

Nedoroscik’s iconic glasses are an inseparable part of his look. Regarding the glasses, he commented, “I might play around with it. I’m worried they might fall off, that’s the concern. Maybe we could try a gadget to keep them secure? Perhaps a new pair of glasses to match the theme?”
