A San Antonio Woman’s Mission to Find a Special Blanket

Meet Samantha Luis Martinez, also known as the “Renal Rascal” to her thousands of TikTok followers. Samantha has been battling kidney disease for nearly a decade, enduring one transplant and countless dialysis appointments. Through it all, a unique purple blanket has been her constant companion, given to her by her late mother as a Christmas gift in 2020.

Tragically, Samantha’s mother passed away from COVID less than a month after giving her the blanket. For Samantha, the blanket is not just a piece of fabric – it’s a connection to her mother, a source of comfort during her grueling dialysis appointments.

However, during a layover in Houston on August 12, Samantha accidentally left the blanket behind at a McDonald’s off Greens Road and I-45. Despite her efforts to locate it, the blanket was picked up by a passerby, leaving Samantha distraught.

She has now turned to social media and the community for help, offering a $100 reward for the safe return of the blanket. Samantha’s hope is that someone in Houston will recognize the blanket and bring it back to her, allowing her to once again feel her mother’s presence and embrace.

If you have any information about the missing blanket, please contact Samantha at 808-468-2625 or email mbenito@khou.com. Let’s come together to reunite Samantha with this precious keepsake and bring a bit of comfort back into her life.
