Crime Stoppers, in collaboration with Governor Abbott, is offering a substantial reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator responsible for the fatal shooting of 90-year-old Navy veteran Nelson Beckett.

The tragic incident occurred during a carjacking in southwest Houston over the weekend, where Beckett was shot and killed outside an assisted living apartment complex. The suspect not only shot Beckett but also took off with his car, running over Beckett as they fled the scene.

Despite the recovery of Beckett’s car a short distance from the crime scene, authorities have yet to identify the suspect. In an effort to expedite the investigation, Crime Stoppers has pledged $5,000, while an additional $10,000 has been contributed by the state’s Public Safety Office.

Governor Abbott expressed his condolences, stating, “Texas is already working with our local partners and providing full support in bringing this criminal to justice.” He urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of honoring Beckett’s service to the nation.

To report tips and be eligible for the reward, individuals can contact the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online through the Texas Department of Public Safety. Together, we can ensure that justice is served and the perpetrator is apprehended.
