Rachael Gunn Speaks Out Against Hate Following Viral Olympics Routine
Rachael Gunn, the Australian breaking competitor whose performance at the Paris Games made waves in the world of sports, has decided to address the criticism she has been facing since her routine went viral.
Popularly known as b-girl Raygun, Gunn’s routine at the Olympics received mixed reviews, with some questioning her choice of moves, including a “kangaroo dance.” Despite the backlash, Gunn has decided to speak out and thank those who have supported her.
In a recent Instagram video, Gunn expressed her gratitude for the positive feedback she has received and acknowledged the joy she was able to bring to her supporters. She also addressed the hate she has received, describing it as “pretty devastating.”
Gunn emphasized that she took her performance at the Olympics seriously and worked hard to prepare for the event. She also mentioned that she was aware of the allegations and misinformation circulating about her participation and urged those seeking information to refer to the Australian Olympic Committee’s statement.
Following a statement by the AOC’s CEO, Matt Carroll, condemning a change.org petition that targeted Gunn, she also called on the press to refrain from harassing her friends, family, and members of the street dance community.
As she plans to stay in Europe for a few weeks for pre-planned downtime, Gunn assured her audience that she would address more questions upon her return to Australia. Despite the challenges she has faced, Gunn remains optimistic and focused on her passion for breaking.
