Welcome to the 2024 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting
Exciting news as Prince Harry, actor Matt Damon, and World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andrés are confirmed to be speakers at the 2024 Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting in New York on Sept. 23 and 24, announced by the Clinton Foundation.
The theme of this year’s gathering is “What’s Working,” aiming to highlight potential solutions and effective aid in a challenging time marked by war, income inequality, and food insecurity.
Former President Bill Clinton emphasized the conference’s focus on the pressing issues of climate crisis, global health, and gun violence, stating, “It’s more important than ever to be optimistic and realize we all have the ability to make a difference.”
Since the return of CGI in 2022, after a hiatus, the initiative has strived to foster an optimistic tone and introduce new ways to help, such as the launch of The CGI Ukraine Action Network last year.
The event will host a diverse range of leaders, including prominent figures like Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Guyana President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, and Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.
During the meeting, Prince Harry will discuss the launch of The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Network and collaborate with the World Health Organization to end violence against children. Matt Damon is expected to provide updates on his $1 billion plan to improve water and sanitation access for millions of people in developing regions.
Business leaders slated to speak include Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, IKEA CEO Jesper Brodin, Mastercard CEO Michael Miebach, and more. José Andrés will share insights on World Central Kitchen’s humanitarian efforts, emphasizing rapid response during crises.
In addition to high-profile speakers, the conference will feature philanthropic leaders like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Laurene Powell Jobs, and World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Sam Bencheghib, co-founder of Sungai Watch, will seek funding for his innovative project that aims to prevent river pollution. An exciting highlight is the showcase of furniture made from recycled plastic bags, illustrating a sustainable approach to waste management.
Join us at the 2024 CGI Annual Meeting to explore impactful solutions and initiatives that are making a difference in today’s world.
