Shocking Incident: Pasadena Family’s Trucks Set on Fire
Guadalupe Cano and her son were left devastated when their pickup trucks were set on fire in front of their Pasadena home. Despite believing they know who the culprits are, the police lack enough evidence to make an arrest.
Describing the ordeal, Cano said, “I was in shock that day. I just cried, cry, cry. It was two explosions really loud. It’s burning outside, and I see the flames all the way to the door.” The fire originated in Cano’s truck, melted it to the metal frame, spread to her son’s truck, and even dangerously approached their house, charring the garage door.
The family recalls the chilling moment when the fire began. “My brother-in-law saw somebody throw something on the truck,” Cano shared. Her son, Austin Alvarado, explained, “One of the passenger doors was left open while it was burning.”
They were only covered by liability insurance, leaving them burdened with replacing the destroyed vehicles. Cano expressed her frustration, stating, “It’s not fair that somebody came and burned whatever they want.” However, lacking surveillance cameras due to financial constraints, they are unable to provide proof to the Pasadena police.
Speaking about their desire for justice, Alvarado said, “We just want justice so we don’t have to be scared about somebody coming back to do anything else.” Cano emphasized the safety concerns for her children, stating, “I’m not safe and my kids are not safe, and that’s what I care about, my kids.”
Despite reaching out to the police for information, there have been no updates. In a plea for support, Marina Lechuga, Cano’s daughter, set up a GoFundMe page to help rebuild the family’s hope after the arson incident.
