Welcome to the LA28 Olympics blog, where we bring you the latest updates on what to expect from the upcoming games in Los Angeles in 2028. Excitement is building as the organizers have shared an incredible musical lineup and teased some surprise guests for the handover during the Closing Ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

An all-star lineup of California-based music artists will be performing as part of the handover celebration to Los Angeles. The lineup includes iconic artists such as Snoop Dogg, Billie Eilish, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. H.E.R. will also be singing the U.S. national anthem in Paris, adding to the star-studded musical showcase.

Casey Wasserman, the Chairperson of LA28, expressed his excitement about this historic moment, stating, “This is the biggest moment in LA28 history to date, as the Olympic flag passes from Paris to LA. We are thrilled to feature the very best of LA with local artists and are grateful to Billie, H.E.R., the Chili Peppers, and Snoop for their collaboration on what will be an incredible show to a global audience.”

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. The organizers have hinted at “additional surprise guests” for the event, leading to speculation about Tom Cruise’s reported role. Reports suggest that Cruise may rappel down from the top of the Stade de France and then skydive down to the Hollywood sign in California, making for a truly unforgettable moment.

According to the Los Angeles Times, LA28 will have about 15 minutes during the Closing Ceremony before the official Olympic flag handover, giving viewers a taste of what’s to come in 2028. The event has been named “Records” by Thomas Jolly, the artistic director of the Paris 2024 Games ceremonies, promising a spectacle that will take spectators on a journey through time.

After the Closing Ceremony re-airs in primetime, a “Countdown to LA28” special will air on NBC and Peacock, hosted by tennis champion Venus Williams. This special event promises to be the “world’s biggest beach party,” setting the stage for the exciting road to the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
