Paralympic Games Wrap Up with Spectacular Closing Ceremony

Tribute to a Fallen Athlete

Following the marathons, a touching tribute was paid to Ugandan Olympic runner Rebecca Cheptegei, who tragically lost her life in a heinous act of violence. The crowd paused to remember Cheptegei, honoring her memory and legacy as a talented and dedicated athlete.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, announced plans to honor Cheptegei by naming a sports venue after her, ensuring that her spirit and passion for sports will always be remembered and cherished.

China emerged as the dominant force at the Paralympics, securing an impressive 94 gold medals and a total of 220 medals overall. Other standout performances came from Britain, the United States, Brazil, and the Netherlands, showcasing the global diversity and talent of Paralympic athletes.

Host nation France also had a strong showing, finishing in eighth place in the medal table with 19 gold medals among its total of 75. The Paralympic Games in Paris were a true celebration of inclusivity, determination, and the unbreakable spirit of athletes from all corners of the world.
