Welcome Ava Hunt, the Newest Legacy at SMU!

Ava Hunt, 19, is following in the footsteps of her family as she begins her journey at Southern Methodist University. Her father, uncle, and grandfather were all Mustangs, and many of her cousins also attended the prestigious university.

This past weekend, Ava moved into her SMU dorm, and the excitement was palpable. Her mother, Tavia, shared a heartwarming social media post documenting Ava’s dorm room set-up, complete with pink fabrics, custom bedding, vanity lighting, and neon signs displaying both Ava’s name and that of her roommate, who coincidentally shares the same name.

It’s no surprise that Ava’s move-in received viral attention, garnering coverage from outlets like Page Six and The Daily Mail. This isn’t Ava’s first time in the spotlight either, as she made headlines last December for surprising Taylor Swift with a birthday gift and more recently for her hiking accident that required surgery.

As Ava embarks on this new chapter, her mother’s touching message serves as a reminder of the love and support surrounding her. The first day of classes at SMU is quickly approaching, and Ava is ready to shine bright and make her mark on The Hilltop.
