Damage from Hurricane Beryl at NRG Stadium
When Hurricane Beryl tore through Houston in July, it caused significant damage to NRG Stadium’s retractable roof. The powerful storm ripped off panels of the roof, leaving parts of the stadium open to the elements. Now, as repairs are underway, fans and attendees are eagerly awaiting the completion of the restoration process.
The timeline for these repairs has been set, with one panel expected to be fixed before the upcoming Texans’ home opener against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 7:20 p.m. The second panel is also slated to be fully repaired before the Texans’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 29 at noon.
Until the roof is completely repaired, fans attending events at NRG Stadium are advised to keep an eye on the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Despite the ongoing repairs, the stadium is still open for events, with recent preseason games and concerts taking place under the damaged roof.
Stay tuned for updates on the progress of the roof repairs at NRG Stadium!
