The Tragic Loss of Ricardo Resendez Jr.

The Resendez family is in mourning after the tragic loss of their beloved Ricardo Resendez Jr., who was killed in a car crash on a Saturday afternoon. What makes this even more heartbreaking is that the driver involved was a Precinct 6 deputy constable.

Ricardo, affectionately known as Ricky, was only 28 years old. As his family grieves, neighbors in the area are hoping that this incident will shine a light on the need for change along the street where the accident occurred.

One such neighbor, Antonio Briones, was present at the scene of the crash and witnessed the aftermath. He described the shock of seeing a fully dressed officer, who turned out to be the off-duty deputy Rigo Vivar, driving the white SUV that was involved in the crash.

Despite efforts to help, including trying to rescue Vivar from the wreckage, it was unfortunately too late. The realization that it was their neighbor, Ricky, inside the car added another layer of devastation to the tragic event.

Since the accident, the Harris County Precinct 6 Constables Office has extended their condolences to the Resendez family. Meanwhile, Briones is advocating for changes to be made to Canal Street to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

While Houston police continue to investigate the crash, it remains unclear if Vivar will face any charges. In the meantime, Ricky’s family has set up a GoFundMe to assist with funeral expenses.
