Welcome to Season 2 of “Eat Like a Local” with Chris Shepherd!

Hey friends, Chris Shepherd here — Season 2 of “Eat like a Local” is here, and let me tell you I am excited! Having been in the restaurant business in Houston most of my life, I have wanted to see and explore the Houston food scene to its fullest. I have driven all over this city and the surrounding areas for years searching for delicious meals and learning about the people that make them. The best part about this city is that I’ve still barely scratched the surface.

I had never thought about working in TV, but after sitting with the team at KPRC 2 and talking about this show, I knew it was for me. Talking with the people that make our city’s restaurants so amazing, showing viewers what makes our city the best food city in the country, highlighting these places and helping tell their stories is what I have always wanted to do. Sharing stories of these great people for all to see — It is my dream!

Season 1 really showed me a lot about what Houston has to offer. It showed me that I have so much to learn about the food and people in our city, and the best part is that we are doing it together!

We are going to explore so much in Season 2! We will visit vegetable farms, oyster farms, visit with our local fishermen and see where all this product that supplies our restaurants comes from. We are going to visit classic places and new places, we will discover off-the-beaten-path places and places right in your own neighborhood. I am so excited about this journey, and it all starts this weekend on September 7 (my birthday!) at 10 a.m.

I personally want to thank the team at KPRC 2 that I get to work with every day — you are amazing! I want to thank the Houston Area Lexus Dealers for always being there for us. We couldn’t do this without you, and I’d like to give one more shoutout to new season 2 sponsor Frenchy’s Chicken. Let’s do this team!
