Exciting news for cruise enthusiasts! The Port of Galveston in Texas is gearing up to welcome a brand new cruise terminal, making it the fourth of its kind at the port.
Construction is currently in progress to transform a cargo warehouse into this state-of-the-art terminal, covering an impressive 165,000 square feet at Pier 16. The project comes with a hefty $151 million price tag, inclusive of a $55 million parking garage.
Set to open its doors in November 2025, the terminal will be the homeport for the MSC Seascape, offering passengers a luxurious and convenient starting point for their voyages.
At a recent groundbreaking ceremony, Port of Galveston director and CEO Rodger Rees, along with MSC Cruises chairman Rick Sasson, unveiled a rendering of the stunning terminal design. Rees expressed his excitement for the economic growth and job opportunities the new terminal will bring to the region.
MSC Cruises will be operating out of Galveston as its fourth homeport, marking a significant milestone for the cruise industry in Texas. Sasson expressed his enthusiasm for partnering with the Galveston Wharves to shape the future of cruising in the Lone Star State.
