Welcome to our blog post where we will be discussing a heartbreaking incident involving a 22-month-old child in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Hilda Ann Adame has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of her child, who was left inside a hot car in the parking lot of Tom Browne Middle School. Corpus Christi Police Department officers responded to the incident on Tuesday.

Adame is facing charges of serious bodily injury to a child and child endangerment/abandonment with imminent bodily injury.

The child was found in the vehicle in the school parking lot, and despite efforts to revive them, they tragically passed away. Adame was taken to the main police station for questioning.

Details about how long the child was in the vehicle or whether the vehicle belonged to a CCISD employee or contractor are still unknown.

In a statement released by CCISD Chief Communications Officer Leanne Libby, the district expressed gratitude to those who responded swiftly to the crisis and mentioned that counseling services were being provided on campus.

It is important to note that this incident is part of a larger issue, with 24 children having died in hot cars in 2024 alone and over 1,100 children having tragically lost their lives in similar incidents since 1990.

Texas has had the highest number of deaths from 1990-2023, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and prevention of such tragedies.
