According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Isaiah Mayham, 18, has been charged with murder for the shooting of 19-year-old John Dennis Holmes III on Raypine Drive, near the North Freeway and Rayford Road.

MCSO investigators used multiple pieces of evidence to identify Mayham as the shooter, who was out on bond for another murder charge at the time of the incident.

Holmes III was found dead in the street near an SUV, having been shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

After the shooting, authorities urged residents to stay indoors as they searched for the masked gunman, with several law enforcement agencies participating in the manhunt.

MCSO initially made an arrest in the case, but released the individual three days later after confirming their alibi.

During the investigation, witnesses reported seeing a man matching Mayham’s description fleeing the scene, and surveillance footage showed a person resembling him holding guns. Messages between Holmes III and Mayham also indicated a planned meeting at the shooting location.

Authorities found matching shell casings at the crime scene and where Mayham resided, as well as tracking data from his GPS ankle monitor placing him at the scene during the shooting.
