Recently, Joseph Jebbia was taken into custody by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Spencer after a deadly chase that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in north Houston.

The Houston Police Department has charged Joseph Anthony Jebbia, a 43-year-old Magnolia resident, with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and unlawful possession of metal or body armor by a felon, according to court documents.

During the chase, which began around 2:15 p.m., Jebbia hit a 55-year-old woman who was waiting for the bus along the North Freeway near West Road, leading to her tragic death. Court documents revealed that Jebbia was wanted on an aggravated kidnapping charge from an incident on June 22 before the chase ensued.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Scott Spencer expressed his dismay over the situation, stating, “A wanted career criminal’s reckless actions resulted in the tragic death of a pedestrian waiting on a bus.” Spencer highlighted Jebbia’s criminal history and the fact that he was wanted on an aggravated assault warrant out of Montgomery County.

After hitting the woman, Jebbia continued to flee from law enforcement, running a red light at West Road and crashing again at Millwood and Highway 249, where he was eventually apprehended. Shockingly, a loaded assault rifle, body armor, and an estimated kilo of fentanyl were discovered in Jebbia’s vehicle.

Spencer emphasized the importance of cherishing loved ones and holding individuals like Jebbia accountable for their actions. He extended condolences to the victim’s family, noting that she was just trying to live her life when tragedy struck.
