Welcome back, Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell!
After a challenging time, Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, the former senior pastor at Windsor Village United Methodist Church, has been released from prison. His wife, Pastor Suzette Caldwell, shared the news on the Windsor Village United Methodist Church Facebook page, revealing that Caldwell is now under house arrest.
In 2021, Caldwell was sentenced to six years in federal prison for pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The case involved defrauding investors of $3.5 million through the sale of historical Chinese bonds that were deemed worthless by China’s current government.
One of Caldwell’s co-defendants, Shreveport investment adviser Gregory A. Smith, also pleaded guilty to the same charge in 2019. Together, they convinced investors to wire funds to accounts controlled by Caldwell, promising high returns on their investments.
Caldwell used a portion of the funds to pay off personal debts, while Smith indulged in luxury purchases and real estate investments. However, Windsor Village confirmed that Caldwell has since made full restitution to the victims.
Despite this setback, Windsor Village remains one of the largest protestant churches in the country, continuing to serve its community faithfully. We look forward to seeing how Pastor Caldwell’s journey unfolds now that he has returned.
