LONDON – A former top BBC news presenter arrived at court Monday to be sentenced for accessing indecent images of children sent to him via the WhatsApp messaging service.
Huw Edwards, a familiar face on British television, confessed in July to three counts of making indecent images of children. The 62-year-old is facing possible imprisonment, although prosecutors have suggested a suspended sentence may be appropriate.
Edwards’ sentencing could potentially be escalated to crown court if the presiding judge deems it necessary on Monday.
