Hidden just a few steps off the bustling Washington Avenue in Houston, lies a bar that might easily go unnoticed if you’re walking too briskly.
They say everything is bigger in Texas, but in this case, Houston is home to what could quite possibly be the smallest bar in the world – Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon.
From the outside, it may seem like just a simple shed painted in a bright yellow hue. But step inside, and you’ll find a world of surprises.
The brainchild of owner Christopher Huang, this tiny watering hole is a creative endeavor that came to life when the neighboring Ninja Ramen restaurant had to close temporarily due to Hurricane Beryl. Determined to make up for lost revenue, Huang came up with the idea of this petite bar.
Measuring just 42 square feet, the saloon can comfortably accommodate up to four patrons at a time, making it a cozy spot for a quick drink. And for now, it serves as a shot bar, catering to those who appreciate a small but unique drinking experience.
Despite its size, or perhaps because of it, the bar has already started to attract a loyal following in its short time of operation.
When asked why he claims it to be the smallest bar in the world, Huang cheekily mentions that he saw a bar in Milan called ‘Back Door 43’ which measured 43 square feet. Determined to one-up them, he built his saloon at 42 square feet, declaring it as the tiniest in the world.
With dreams as vast as the Texas sky, Huang remains optimistic that his minuscule saloon will become a big hit. In a state where possibilities are endless, anything can happen, and this tiny bar might just be the next big thing.
So, the next time you’re strolling down Washington Avenue in Houston, be sure to keep an eye out for the unassuming yellow shed that houses the Toy Gun Pew Pew Saloon – a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
