The incident took place at a residence along Collier Street, north of Highway 90 alt and west of the Gulf Freeway, according to Houston police.

During a news conference on Thursday night, HPD Assistant Chief Megan Howard stated that around 9 p.m., three masked individuals approached a family gathered on the porch. The family managed to retreat indoors just before the assailants knocked on the door.

Subsequently, two of the suspects opened fire upon the residence after the front door was opened.

Assistant Chief Howard disclosed that all the victims were juveniles, aged 10, 14, 15, and 16. Three sustained injuries to their extremities while one was shot in the abdomen. All four victims were transported to the hospital.

Deevon Rahming from KHOU 11 interviewed the aunt of the victims, who confirmed that her two nieces and nephews were among those shot during the incident.

The aunt mentioned that her 15-year-old nephew required a breathing tube and had undergone surgery to remove a kidney and part of his colon.

She recounted how her sister-in-law attempted to reason with the masked suspects when they barged into the house and began shooting before fleeing the scene.

Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene. The authorities announced on Monday that a 15-year-old suspect had been apprehended and charged in connection with the case. Two additional suspects are still being sought.

The family is grappling with the aftermath of the harrowing ordeal.

“They showed no concern for who they were injuring, they just started shooting indiscriminately,” remarked the aunt of the victims.

Grandfather Jose Berrones recalled the moment the shots rang out, with one of his grandsons fearing for his life.

He described how the gunman issued threats to force entry, claiming they would break down the door and harm everyone inside.

A cousin revealed that the altercation stemmed from a dispute on social media.

“It’s senseless to resort to violence over such trivial matters, especially when children and elderly individuals are present in the household,” the cousin expressed.
