PARIS – The prestigious fashion house Givenchy has announced that Sarah Burton has been appointed as the new creative director for both women’s and men’s collections, effective immediately.
Burton, well-known for her work at Alexander McQueen before stepping down last year, expressed her excitement about the new role, stating, “I am thrilled to bring my vision, sensibility, and beliefs to Givenchy.”
“It is a great honor to join the beautiful house of Givenchy, a true jewel,” she added.
Her inaugural collection for Givenchy is set to debut during Paris Fashion Week in March.
The luxury brand, part of the LVMH conglomerate, also welcomed a new CEO, Alessandro Valenti, in July.
Sarah Burton now joins an elite group of designers at Givenchy, following in the footsteps of the house’s founder Hubert de Givenchy. She is the second female creative director in the brand’s history.
Previous creative directors at Givenchy include the renowned Alexander McQueen.
Burton, most notably recognized for designing the wedding dress for Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, left Alexander McQueen after leaving a significant impact during her two decades with the brand, ultimately serving as creative director since 2010.
