Texans affected by Hurricane Beryl may qualify for assistance under FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program. Currently, residents in Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, and Wharton counties may be eligible for help. However, some Fort Bend County residents are disappointed as they are not included in the list. FEMA officials suggest that additional counties could be added based on further assessments. Fort Bend County Democratic Party Chairman, Fred G. Taylor, urges residents to report their damages to provide an accurate picture of the situation.

“It has come to my attention that FEMA is not getting an accurate picture of the extensive damage we are experiencing in Ft Bend Co. I’m asking everyone who received damages as a result of Hurricane Beryl to please go online and complete the survey at TDEM.texas.gov. Go to ‘report damage, July 7th’. This will allow FEMA to accurately assess the damage in our area,” Taylor said.

Immediate Assistance Available

Residents in the affected counties may be eligible for Serious Needs Assistance, which includes a one-time $750 payment per household for essential items like food, water, baby supplies, and medication. Additionally, Displacement Assistance is available for those unable to return home due to the disaster, offering support for temporary housing options.

Furthermore, eligible residents may receive monetary aid for rental assistance, home repairs, personal property losses, and other expenses related to Hurricane Beryl. Even those who received assistance for previous storms in April can apply for assistance if their primary home is in one of the declared counties.

All Texans with property damage are encouraged to report their losses through the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s online tool at damage.tdem.texas.gov.
