The Best Employers in Texas: Forbes Survey Results
Forbes, in collaboration with a research firm, recently conducted a survey to determine the best employers in every state. The survey included 160,000 employees working for companies with at least 500 people. The results are in, and it’s no surprise that a Houston-based healthcare provider has claimed the top spot in Texas.
Houston Methodist secured the number one position on Forbes’ list of the best employers in the Lone Star State. Established in 1919, this non-profit organization operates seven hospitals, with Houston Methodist Hospital leading the way. Forbes reports that Houston Methodist employs over 32,000 individuals.
Another notable Texas-based company that made it near the top of the list is H-E-B Grocery Company, securing the third position in the state rankings. Founded in 1905 and owned by the Butt family, this regional supermarket chain with 340 stores is headquartered in San Antonio, employing more than 154,000 workers, according to Forbes.
Toyota North America in Plano and Cook Children’s Health Care System in Fort Worth round out the top five.
Even NASA, with their Houston presence, made it to the top 10 of the list, landing at the eighth spot. Likewise, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston ranks just outside the top 10, at number 11, employing over 24,000 individuals.
Other notable employers on the list include the Conroe Independent School District at number 13 and Houston Community College at number 24.
