Welcome to Our Blog: Remembering the Victims of Hurricane Beryl in Southeast Texas

On July 8, 2024, Hurricane Beryl swept through Southeast Texas, leaving a trail of destruction and loss in its wake. The storm caused widespread damage, power outages, and unfortunately, claimed the lives of several individuals.

In North Harris County, 73-year-old Loredo tragically lost her life when a tree fell through her home during the storm. She was asleep at the time, and her family was unable to reach her due to the debris. Loredo’s family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with their recovery and funeral expenses.

Another victim of the storm was Richardson, a 54-year-old information security officer with the Houston Police Department. He encountered high water at the Houston Avenue underpass on his way to work and tragically lost his life.

Courtney, a 77-year-old man, met his untimely end when his car was swept by the currents of the Little White Oak Bayou. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

In addition to these deaths, three individuals succumbed to heat exposure due to power outages caused by the storm. Anderson Sr., York, and Rodriguez all tragically passed away from hyperthermia.

One person on the Bolivar Peninsula also lost their life when their breathing machine stopped working during a power outage. Additionally, three individuals in Montgomery County lost their lives due to various incidents related to the hurricane.

Finally, Jay Michael Taylor, a 53-year-old man, was killed when an oak tree fell on his home. Despite the tragic loss, his family survived the ordeal.
