Elderly woman hurt in North Houston home fire

An elderly Houston woman faced a harrowing ordeal when her home on the northside became engulfed in flames, leaving her trapped inside. The 96-year-old victim suffered burns over 80% of her body as a result of the intense fire, and was rescued by heroic Houston firefighters who swiftly responded to the emergency.

According to the Houston Fire Department, they received the distress call about the woman trapped in her home on Robertson near Calvacade at 3:15 p.m. The firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes to carry out the courageous rescue operation.

Witnesses described the heart-wrenching moment before the firefighters arrived, hearing the victim’s cries for help as they tried desperately to assist her. Living alone and reliant on a walker, the elderly woman’s plight was met with a swift response from the community and emergency services.
