State Trooper Hit by Suspected Drunk Driver on Highway 249

A State Trooper was hit by a suspected drunk driver early Friday morning on Highway 249 in Harris County, Texas. The trooper has been taken to the hospital for treatment, but his condition is currently unknown.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just before 3:30 a.m., heading south near Upland Willow Avenue. The suspected drunk driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by deputies shortly after.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that the trooper was outside his vehicle conducting a traffic stop when he was struck by the vehicle.

At present, Highway 249 is closed in both directions, and drivers are advised to use the North Freeway to Beltway 8 as an alternative route. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office will lead the investigation into the crash and DWI incident.
