NEW YORK – Sean “Diddy” Combs made headlines recently when he returned his key to New York City after a request from Mayor Eric Adams. This decision came after a video surfaced, showing the music mogul attacking R&B singer Cassie.
The mayor’s office confirmed that Combs returned the key following a letter from Adams on June 4. The mayor expressed his deep concern and condemnation of the attack, standing in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence. The key was returned to City Hall on June 10.
Combs’ career has been marred by numerous accusations of sexual abuse and a federal criminal sex-trafficking investigation. Allegations led to raids on Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami.
The incident involving Cassie, where security footage showed Combs attacking her in a hotel corridor in 2016, further tarnished his image. Despite offering apologies and settling the lawsuit filed by Cassie, Combs faced repercussions such as having his key to the city rescinded and losing an honorary degree and scholarship program from Howard University.
Combs, known for his contributions to the hip-hop industry through Bad Boy Records, is a prominent figure whose success in music translated into a successful business empire.
For inquiries, a representative for Combs was unreachable at the time of reporting.
