A terrifying ordeal unfolded for a Gilbert family when their second-grader, Allie Brasfield, fell victim to a rattlesnake bite at Gilbert Regional Park. What followed was a harrowing 30-hour ordeal where proper treatment eluded her, leaving her and her family in a race against time.

Despite exhibiting no immediate symptoms, Allie’s ankle began to discolor, prompting her parents to seek medical attention. However, initial assessments at the hospital suggested a sprained ankle. It wasn’t until Allie’s condition rapidly deteriorated, with the discoloration spreading up her leg, that the true cause was uncovered.

Multiple hospitals failed to diagnose the problem until Phoenix Children’s Hospital finally identified the snakebite venom in Allie’s blood. The delay in treatment meant that Allie required two surgeries and a staggering 40 vials of antivenom to survive.

As Allie continues to recover, the family is faced with the daunting reality of the financial burden. With insurance failing to cover the costs of the antivenom, the family is left to grapple with potentially exorbitant medical bills.

Despite the challenges, the family remains focused on Allie’s recovery and has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the expenses. Your support can make a significant difference in Allie’s journey back to health. Together, we can ensure that this brave young girl receives the care she needs to overcome this traumatic experience.
