PARIS – The world lost a legendary figure this week with the passing of French film icon Alain Delon. Known for his charm, talent, and passion for animals, Delon once expressed his desire to have his beloved sheepdog Louba buried with him. However, thanks to the efforts of animal rights activists and concerned citizens, Louba will be allowed to live out her days in peace.
Delon, who passed away at the age of 88, will be laid to rest on Saturday at his family home in Douchy, south of Paris. In a heartfelt interview with Paris Match in 2018, he shared his deep bond with Louba, a Belgian Malinois he adopted in 2014, and expressed his wish for them to be together even in death.
Following Delon’s death, concerns arose about Louba’s future. Animal rights groups, including France’s Society for Protection of Animals and the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, stepped in to offer assistance and find her a new home. Fortunately, Delon’s family reassured the public that Louba will continue to live in the comfort of her home in Douchy.
An official from the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, a close confidante of both Delon and Bardot, revealed that Delon had been a supporter of animal rights causes for many years. Despite the initial concerns, the family’s decision to let Louba live in her current home was a relief to many.
Delon’s legacy as one of France’s most beloved actors and his dedication to animal welfare will live on. Through his work and his bond with Louba, he has left a lasting impact on both the world of cinema and the hearts of animal lovers everywhere.
