First responders are currently addressing hot spots following a transformer fire at the Air Liquide facility in Pasadena, according to the La Porte Office of Emergency Management.
The fire was initially reported around 5:30 p.m. at the facility located on Bay Area Boulevard near Highway 146.
As of 6:40 p.m., the emergency management office updated that the fire is mostly under control, and crews are working to address any remaining hot spots. Additionally, they mentioned the possibility of increased flaring due to the power loss.
Residents in the vicinity are advised to expect the presence of emergency personnel until the situation is fully resolved.
La Porte OEM has reassured the community that no immediate action is required. Harris County Pollution Control is actively monitoring the air quality at the site.
Harris County Precinct 8 constables are managing traffic control in the area, with Bay Area Boulevard closed from Fairmont Parkway to Choate Road. Commuters should anticipate traffic delays and consider alternative routes.
