Congressman Greg Casar Advocates for Progress in Government Funding
Once again, Congress has resorted to a temporary continuing resolution to fund the government, with the hope of keeping the lights on through Dec. 20. Congressman Greg Casar, D-Austin, played a vital role in passing the CR alongside his fellow Democrats and some Republicans in the U.S. House, with only Republicans casting dissenting votes.
In an effort to move away from the cycle of temporary funding measures, Congressman Casar emphasized the importance of building a sustainable future for government services. He shared his perspective, stating, “An infant can break something, but it takes adults and public servants to build things. Let’s work together to create a better future for our country.”
While the CR funds the government at current levels until just before Christmas, a notable addition includes $231 million for the Secret Service in response to recent security threats. The measure passed the Senate with overwhelming support, laying the groundwork for further budget discussions after the upcoming November 5 election.
During a recent conversation, Congressman Casar introduced the Migration Stability Resolution, which aims to address the root causes of migration from Central and South America and the Caribbean. By advocating for comprehensive legislation and a clear pathway to citizenship for immigrants in the U.S., Casar seeks to initiate meaningful progress in immigration reform.
As the conversation around government funding and immigration reform continues, Congressman Greg Casar remains committed to advocating for positive change and building a more stable and inclusive future for all Americans.
