The List Pet Store Raided by Houston SPCA and Galveston County Sheriff’s Office

Recently, the Houston SPCA and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office joined forces to rescue over 800 animals from The List Pet Store in Santa Fe, Texas. The operation involved removing puppies, kittens, tortoises, lizards, snakes, and even tarantulas from the facility.

This pet store has been under scrutiny for multiple cases of animal cruelty over the years, making it a target for investigations. Despite previous warnings and chances to improve animal welfare, the situation escalated to the point where intervention was necessary.

Chief of Cruelty Investigations at the Houston SPCA, Josh Sailor, expressed concern over the persistent neglect at the store, leading them to collaborate with law enforcement for a rescue mission. The animals, ranging from common pets like puppies and kittens to more exotic species like tarantulas, were taken into custody pending a hearing next week.

While no charges have been filed yet, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the seizure was part of an ongoing investigation. The SPCA continues to receive thousands of reports of animal cruelty annually, emphasizing the importance of reporting such cases for swift action.

If you witness any form of animal abuse or neglect, do not hesitate to contact the Houston SPCA at 713-869-7722 or through their website. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of innocent animals.
