Meet Juanita Williams, a remarkable woman who at 102 years old is still serving God and her community with unwavering dedication. She has been a member of the Usher Board at Wesley Chapel AME Church for over six decades, ushering in the Holy Spirit with grace and humility.

Despite her age, Juanita continues to serve as an usher every first and second Sunday, welcoming new faces with a warm smile and a friendly spirit.

Born in 1922, Juanita moved to Houston in 1939 to pursue higher education. She eventually earned a degree in Home Economics from what is now Texas Southern University. It was during this time that she first became involved with the Usher Board at Wesley Chapel.

Ushering Origins

Juanita’s journey with the Usher Board began as a way to reconnect with her faith and has blossomed into a lifelong commitment to serving God and her community. Over the years, she has traveled extensively with the Ushers, served under multiple bishops, and enjoyed every moment of sharing her love for ushering.

Her dedication has not gone unnoticed, as Juanita has been recognized by various organizations and leaders for her outstanding service. She remains active in her community and cherishes the memories she has made along the way.

Recognitions

In addition to her service as an usher, Juanita is a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Despite facing challenges in life, she continues to find joy in the simple things, like walking, playing games, and attending church regularly.

Her advice to young ushers is simple yet profound: serve with sincerity and remember that ushering is a commitment to God, not to any individual or organization.
