Off-Duty Deputy Injured in Crash Possibly Caused by Motorcyclists on Hardy Toll Road
An off-duty Harris County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized in serious condition after a crash on the Hardy Toll Road, with Sheriff Ed Gonzalez suspecting that a group of six motorcycles may have been involved in trying to take over the freeway.
The incident occured near East Richey Road and was first reported by Gonzalez at 12:28 p.m. The sheriff mentioned that the motorcyclists attempted to stop traffic to take control of the toll road, but they remained at the scene following the crash, and there were no reported fatalities.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the crash. Houston Transtar cameras showed the southbound lanes of the freeway at a standstill as of 12:40 p.m.
