Rising Star Dance Academy Expands to Impact Local Arts Community
Under the visionary leadership of Denisea Woodard Patterson, Rising Star Dance Academy is set to make a significant impact on the local arts community with its latest expansion plans. The new location on Hiram Clarke Road will be complemented by a space dedicated to larger activities and diverse arts programming just minutes away.
Since its founding in 2014, Rising Star Dance Academy has been committed to providing accessible and quality dance education to children in the 5 Corners Improvement District area. Patterson, a seasoned dance professional with over 15 years of experience, has been instrumental in shaping the academy’s vision and mission.
Offering a comprehensive range of dance, music, theater arts, and mentorship programs, Rising Star Dance Academy aims to make the arts accessible to all. The academy’s onsite and mobile programs reach out to various communities, including daycares, community centers, and women’s shelters.
Patterson’s passion for empowering young people through the arts stems from her own experiences growing up in an area where quality dance programs were scarce. She saw the need to create a safe and inclusive space for children to explore their creativity, leading to the establishment of Rising Star Dance Academy.
The academy’s commitment to providing quality education is evident in its partnerships with local organizations and dedication to offering scholarships to students pursuing higher education. Patterson’s focus on health and wellness initiatives also sets the academy apart, offering programs that promote physical and emotional well-being through the arts.
As Rising Star Dance Academy prepares to embark on a new chapter with the construction of a dedicated youth development center, Patterson envisions a space where children can explore their creativity, develop their skills, and build a strong sense of community.
Recently, the academy introduced a Fashion Design Class for the visual arts program, offering students the opportunity to design, sew, and participate in STEM-related activities. The new location is expected to open in the fall of 2025, providing a one-stop shop for youth interested in dance, theater, visual arts, music, and more.
