Stay Prepared: Texas Gears Up for Potential Tropical Weather

As the Bay of Campeche system gains strength, Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to activate additional resources to deal with the anticipated heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

The National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring the system, giving it a 90% chance of development within the next seven days and an 80% chance in the next two days.

With the potential threat looming, the Texas Division of Emergency Management will have various state emergency resources on standby starting Monday morning. Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of being prepared, stating, “Texans are urged to take the necessary precautions for potential tropical weather, including remaining weather aware, monitoring road conditions, and having an emergency plan to ensure the safety of themselves and their loved ones. Texas will continue to closely monitor weather conditions to protect the well-being of Texans.”
