Exciting news for the Houston community as Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell has been released from prison, as confirmed by his wife, Pastor Suzette Caldwell. Despite being under house arrest, this is a hopeful development for all those who have been following his case.
Caldwell made headlines when he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in March 2020, resulting in a six-year federal prison sentence in January 2021. As the former senior pastor and founder of Windsor Village, Caldwell was embroiled in a scandal involving fraudulent investments with historical Chinese bonds from the former Republic of China.
Unfortunately, these bonds are no longer recognized by China’s current government and are essentially worthless as investments. Caldwell’s co-defendant, Shreveport investment adviser Gregory A. Smith, also pleaded guilty to the same charge in 2019.
