Man Accused of Killing Navy Veteran Also Charged in University of Houston Robbery

The Harris County District Attorney’s office has revealed that Kyliel Arceneaux, 21, is facing additional charges in an unrelated armed robbery case. Arceneaux, who is accused of killing a 90-year-old Navy veteran, is now also charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon for a robbery at a University of Houston dorm.

Arceneaux allegedly participated in the robbery that took place inside the Moody Towers residence hall on August 27, where a student was held at gunpoint by two men who ransacked his room.

Prosecutor Dana Nazarova stated, “Attacking somebody who is a student in the dorm, literally thinks that this is a safe place where we have security, we don’t let people in. We did find that there were ties to this defendant and that he was one of the people who held him at gunpoint during that robbery.”

Surveillance video played a crucial role in linking Arceneaux to the crime, with Nazarova highlighting a unique bald spot on his head that helped in identification.

Prosecutors say suspect admitted he killed the veteran

It was revealed that Arceneaux confessed to targeting the elderly Navy veteran because he thought he wouldn’t fight back due to his age and mobility issues. The prosecutor described the heinous act where Arceneaux fatally shot the victim, continued to assault him, robbed him, and drove over his body with the stolen car.

Arceneaux’s bond was set at $7M, and it was shared that he had threatened two individuals who attempted to assist the victim. The stolen car was found nearby, with footage showing Arceneaux attempting to remove his fingerprints and disposing of incriminating evidence.

The victim’s family expressed gratitude for the support received and hoped that justice prevails. They laid the Navy veteran to rest with a heavy heart, as they come to terms with the loss.
