The Rise of Jamya Fields: A Volleyball Star in the Making
Jamya Fields, a senior at Elsik High School, is making waves both on the volleyball court and in the classroom. Born and raised in a family of athletes, Fields found her inspiration in her older sister, Jayla Fields, a former Elsik Rams player.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Fields initiated her volleyball journey during her freshman year at Elsik High. Her passion for the sport grew exponentially, leading her to join the First Triumph Volleyball Club. Volleyball, for Fields, is not just a game but a source of solace and purpose.
As a senior, Fields plays a crucial role as a team leader, guiding the new squad through her experience and skill. Her dedication to the game and her teammates is evident both on and off the court.
Coach Alyssa Lantz acknowledges Fields’ impact on the team, stating, “We have a few rookies that have never played varsity indoor volleyball, and it helps to have Jamya because she knows how to move, play, and adjust when we need her to.”
Fields’ ambition extends beyond the high school court. With her eyes set on collegiate volleyball, she strives to enhance her skills and power. However, her dreams don’t stop there; Fields aspires to pursue a degree in education post-graduation.
Fields draws strength from her supportive circle of family and friends, who encourage her to persevere and remain positive in the face of challenges. Her ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact as a teacher, inspired by her mother’s dedication to education.
On a personal level, Fields finds inspiration in players like Avery Skinner and teams like the Italian Series A1 team Chieri. Her commitment to the game and her future as an educator is a testament to her resilience and determination.
