Remembering a Hero: Lincer Lopez
A Tragic Sacrifice
On a serene Saturday afternoon, tragedy struck Lake Waxahachie as a 21-year-old man named Lincer Lopez made the ultimate sacrifice just an hour after his baptism. He lost his life while attempting to rescue his friend, 15-year-old Genesis Delgado, from the depths of the lake.
A Hero’s Last Act
Genesis recounted the harrowing incident, recalling how she found herself struggling in the water after stepping into the lake’s deceptive drop-off. Helpless and unable to swim, she felt the cold water close in around her, fearing she would never resurface.
Thankfully, a stranger named Jacob Bell intervened, pulling Genesis to safety in his boat and administering life-saving CPR. Grateful for her second chance at life, Genesis now seeks to express her gratitude to Lopez and Bell for their selfless acts of heroism.
A Heartfelt Tribute
In the wake of this tragedy, Genesis expressed her remorse for Lopez’s untimely passing, proclaiming her deep affection for him and the impact he had on her life. Despite the pain of loss, she remains hopeful that one day they will meet again.
As Genesis navigates the uncertainties of life, she vows to carry Lopez’s memory with her always, treasuring the brief but profound connection they shared.
A Call for Support
Lincer’s church community has rallied together to raise funds for his burial expenses and to support his family in Mexico during this trying time. If you wish to contribute to their cause, you can find their GoFundMe page here.
