Welcome to our blog where we are diving into the summer season full of outdoor fun and family wellness! As the temperatures rise, it’s the perfect time to focus on staying active, eating well, and enjoying the sunshine with your loved ones.
Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist Dawn Jackson Blatner has shared five fantastic tips to help you make the most of your summer while keeping your mind and body energized.
1. Try different types of movement
Who said staying active had to be boring? Mix it up this summer by trying out different types of activities like pickleball, swimming, paddle boarding, or beach volleyball. Pickleball, in particular, is a trending sport that is easy to learn and fun for all ages and skill levels. It’s a great way to stay active, make new friends, and have a blast!
2. Hydrate with coconut water
Stay hydrated on those scorching hot days by drinking coconut water with a sprinkle of sea salt to replenish lost electrolytes. It’s a low-calorie, natural alternative to sugary sports drinks and is incredibly refreshing on a warm summer day.
3. Energize with foods rich in Vitamin B12 early in the day
Start your day right by incorporating Vitamin B12-rich foods like yogurt, milk, eggs, and fish into your breakfast. Vitamin B12 helps support energy production and will keep you going throughout your active summer days.
4. Snack on magnesium-rich foods in the evening
Support your muscle health and get a good night’s sleep by snacking on magnesium-rich foods like almonds, pumpkin seeds, and dark chocolate in the evening. Magnesium is essential for recovery, especially if you’ve been active all day.
5. Recover and refuel
After a long day of activities, make sure to refuel with a meal packed with quality carbs, proteins, and healthy fats. Eggland’s Best eggs are a nutritious option that can provide you with essential nutrients like omega-3s, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin E.
