An unfortunate incident unfolded at Collins Intermediate School in Corsicana, Texas, when assistant principal Candra Rogers was injured during a classroom disruption. She was airlifted to the hospital and is currently in the process of recovery.

Details surrounding the incident were shared in a statement by school officials on Friday morning. Principal Tiffany Boortz informed parents of the disruption that occurred in a classroom with less than 10 students, causing injury to Rogers. While specific information about her condition was not disclosed, it was mentioned that she is showing signs of improvement.

In response to the incident, Corsicana ISD Communications Director Raymond Lenix expressed, “She is improving, she’s in good spirits, she’s very strong.” An overnight hearing for the student involved took place, with the district attorney’s office sharing that charges are pending pending the completion of the investigation.

Boortz assured parents that no other students or staff were at risk during the disruption and that the campus was placed on “Hold” status as the situation was addressed. Concerned community members, like parent Laura Brazier, are eager for more details on how the incident transpired.

The superintendent, Stephanie Howell, emphasized the district’s commitment to safety for both students and staff, extending prayers to all those affected by the incident. Rogers, who recently joined the Corsicana district, is a valued member of the school community alongside her husband, Eugene Rogers, the Corsicana High School football coach.
